Changelog

Ombak ships fast during beta — newest first.

v0.1.5 · build 34 — speedometer moved to the corner

28 Oct 2026
  • The speed gauge and its posted-limit sign now sit at the bottom-left of the map (Waze-style), keeping the road ahead and the turn banner fully visible.

v0.1.5 · build 33 — real-time traffic, live drivers

28 Oct 2026
  • Live traffic, hazard reports, search and routing now served from a nearby regional edge — faster first load, quicker reroute response (~1.7 s vs 2.4–3.1 s before), steady under mobile data.
  • Other drivers running Ombak around you now appear as live dots on your map in real-time peer-to-peer presence.
  • If the write path temporarily goes offline, reporting degrades gracefully: a clear retry prompt instead of an opaque error.

v0.1.5 · build 30–31 — calmer, smarter in-drive prompts

28 Oct 2026
  • Hazard and incident checks are now scenario-aware: they stay quiet when a slowdown is just your announced turn or a red light, wait progressively longer between asks, and cap at three per trip.
  • Your Profile card updates the moment you sign in or out — no more “signed in but it still says Not Signed in”.

v0.1.5 · build 23–28 — sign in with QynQue

27–28 Oct 2026
  • One-tap “Sign in with QynQue” links your account so saved places and recent searches sync across devices. Your Ombak account is created on first sign-in, and Ombak never stores a password.
  • Sign-in opens as a sheet over the map instead of taking over the screen, and ends with a clear “Back to map”. An account is optional — you never need one to navigate.
  • Older Androids that can’t run the modern sign-in page fall back to a simple direct email/password sign-in: same account, password used once and never saved.

v0.1.4 · build 19 — stability pass

27 Oct 2026
  • Search tab surfaces no longer leak state between screens — recents, the nearby grid and the route pane always render current data when switched.
  • The shared GPS subscription is no longer torn down when moving between screens, removing false “no GPS” warnings at the start of a route.
  • The keyboard no longer pops over full-screen panes it shouldn’t cover.

v0.1.4 · build 15–18 — speedometer redesign

27 Oct 2026
  • New custom speed gauge: a digital readout plus a progress ring (green → amber → red) that fills toward the dial ceiling.
  • An EU-style speed-limit sign docks beside the gauge — shown only where map data actually carries the limit, never guessed.
  • Hard-braking flash moved onto the gauge; the speed number now rounds instead of always flooring.

v0.1.4 · build 12–14 — Ombak starts learning

27 Oct 2026
  • Route memory: pick a route (or take your own detour) once and it returns pre-selected on a repeat trip, tagged “Your usual”.
  • Driving profile: on-device trip telemetry (average/max speed, harsh braking, highway mix) summarised in your Profile — with a one-tap “Forget what you learned”.
  • All learning stays local on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.

v0.1.4 · build 10–11 — navigation hardening

26–27 Oct 2026
  • The passed route fades behind you as you drive — only what’s ahead stays highlighted.
  • Heading-up camera holds the car pointing up, snappier at speed.
  • Voice and on-screen distances round to clean milestones (500 m / 300 m / 100 m) instead of jittery exact metres.
  • The GO button is disabled until routes actually exist — no more blank navigation screens.
  • Starting a route while the fix is still acquiring no longer shows a scary cold-start error.

v0.1.4 · build 9 — voice follows the app language

26 Oct 2026
  • Guidance voice now follows the in-app language choice instead of the phone’s system locale — English UI speaks English cues.

v0.1.2 — v0.1.4 · build 2–9 — the driving-first rebuild

26 Oct 2026
  • Driving-first home: a collapsible bottom sheet with pinned GO / Nearby / Frequent / Alerts tabs over a full-bleed map.
  • Smart place search: out-of-order and typo-tolerant retrieval (“sentral kl” finds Klang Sentral, “petonas” finds Petronas).
  • Waze-style address labels on results — venue name as the title, council/town address as the detail.
  • Speed-adaptive navigation: cue timing, camera zoom and rotation scale with your speed.
  • Live GPS health monitoring with honest disconnect warnings before starting navigation.

v0.1.0 · build 1 — first public beta

25 Oct 2026
  • Offline Malaysia map (MapLibre + vector tiles), place search, route preview and voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation.
  • Saved places, recent searches, and traffic reports on the gateway-backed stack.
