Android 8.0 and newer · ~50 MB · checksums published with every build

Built for the drive, not the phone

Every screen is designed for what you need at the wheel — glanceable, spoken, and honest about what it knows.

🗺️

Offline maps & routing

Malaysia's road network rendered from OpenStreetMap data. The core navigator keeps working where the signal doesn't.

🧭

Voice-guided navigation

Turn-by-turn cues that adapt to your speed — round milestones at 100 km/h, precise detail in the city, a heading-up camera that follows the car.

🔎

Smart place search

Find places even with typos or scrambled words — "petonas" and "sentral kl" still land on Petronas and Klang Sentral.

🧠

Learns your routes

Pick a route once and Ombak remembers your usual way on that trip — tagged "Your usual" — including the detours you take.

⚡

Driving profile

Passive, on-device trip telemetry builds an honest picture of how you drive. Your data stays on your phone.

⏱️

Speedometer + limit sign

A true-to-GPS speed gauge with an EU-style limit sign — shown only when the map data actually carries the limit. Never guessed.

How Ombak is different

Open-source all the way down

MapLibre GL rendering, Valhalla routing, OpenStreetMap + Overture Places data — built in the open, for Malaysia.

Honest by design

No fabricated speed limits, no fake coverage. When Ombak doesn't know, it says so — and empty states are real, not placeholders.

Free, direct, verifiable

Download the APK here and verify its SHA-256 checksum. No app-store middleman during beta.

Getting it on your phone

  1. Download the latest APK from the download page.
  2. Open the file — Android will ask to allow installs from this browser once.
  3. Grant location permission when prompted ("While using the app" is enough).
  4. Optional: verify the file's SHA-256 checksum matches the one published next to the download.
These are debug beta builds distributed directly while Ombak is in open beta. Expect improvements almost daily — check the changelog before reporting something odd.
